Ideas and Cultural Expression: Making Connections

A pedagogical scenario developed in English has recently been added to growing collection of public resources. This scenario explores connections between currents of thought and cultural expression in Quebec from 1500 to the present day. Access it and its associated timeline via the Public resources menu within the application, or view it here.
How to create a scenario?

Student notebook Section

The Student notebook section serves as a place to indicate instructions directed at students in order for them to complete the scenario. These instructions will be reproduced in a notebook available to students at all times while working on scenario tasks.

  • In the Instructions tab, the student finds detailed advice guiding them on how to complete the scenario. Note that the student cannot modify this particular area, as opposed to the other areas which are editable.
  • In the Interpretation tab, you can reproduce the instructions, as is, or in a simplified form. These could be used to guide students with direct questions to which they can respond. Students can even write in this area, erase or modify questions or instructions. This is why they must be precise in the Instructions section, which cannot be accidentally erased.
  • The Personal notes tab is reserved for students. They are invited to use it as a place for note "making" while reading texts or while perusing the suggested web sites, for drafts while writing events, or to help formulate their interpretations.

View the scenario

The button at right entitled View the scenario allows you to display the scenario along with its timeline as it would presented to the students. By activating this option, the notebook area will appear automatically in a new window, as it would for students as well.

Watch out! While you are in View mode, all modifications that you make to the scenario or its timeline will not be saved! Make sure you make all necessary additions or modifications while in the Edit learning scenario mode, where you can save your work at any time.
